Cian, you already have a mini-x right? I'm curious how differently the one you just bought from BT runs compared to yours.

Hey there cdog, I’ve been comparing the two over the last few nights, BT's X has a 6 cell pack, and stock electronics, all the bearing as are installed and he's using a BB can . Also , he hasn't shaved off the suspension stops. It seems much smoother than mine does with way less rolling resistance. It's also a lot lighter. Combined, it makes for a quicker X. The motor runs a lot cooler. And I think he's using different Diffs, I got a complete set of spares with the car, and there a re a couple of diffs, so I reckon they're helping boost performance
I tried it out on my speed checker and got 29 km/h. Haven't tried my own X yet,. But after seeing the difference in performance, I'm fitting the bearing set I had lying around, lubing the diffs, and replacing the clunky brick battery pack for a set of 6 2/3 'A' cells.
I'm using a mini-z transmitter, so it cuts out if I max the throttle. a spacer behind the trigger should cure this.
Hopefully I'll be getting an RCP track in the coming weeks, so I'll be able to provide a better comparison then. At the moment I'm just trying to get mine up to a comparable level with BT's, which is proving to be a task in itself!!
binaryterror, I have to say, you built a mean machine!!

Cool. Wish I had the room for one of those tracks. What do you think is responsible for the less rolling resistance? Did you not have bearings installed on your X?
Anyway, was also wondering about that blue stiffening plate that he put on there. I see that it mounts at the motor mount, but where does it mount up front? It looks like it mounts at the driver side knuckle only?

Off the top of my head I'm not sure. I'll check when I get home tonight! Looking at the photos, it does look like it's just the one, though...
RE: rolling resistence, I had the bearings, but I never used them till now. There seems to be less play on his car, I reckon everything has just been broken in properly. the car will roll for a bit off the throttle, not a lot , just a little more than mine. It runs a bit quieter as well, again I presume as less loss of enenrgy through friction/ vibration. I'm not 100% certain the extra top deck is making any difference
