Soldering?
I wanna learn how because i was playing Paintball one day and this guy told me if ever plan on buying an electro paintball marker i'd better learn how to solder (That's how ya spell it right?) and i figured i should just learn how because also commonly used in the RC world to...well from what i've heard. So any general info How Too's would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry about me posting 2 or 3 times everytime i come on here i'm just new and have alot to learn about RC

heres what you'll probably want: 15 watt soldering iron/pen, ROSIN CORE .32 solder (no acid core it wont work well), fine tip for the soldering iron/pen, if you're working on bigger RCs like 1/10, 1/8 etc. you'll want a butane powered soldering iron or a small butane torch
tin the tip with some solder by heating it up and putting some solder on it. if you're going to solder a wire to a tab get them hot and keep them hot. you can also lightly sand the tab so you'll get a better connection. dont sand it if you're solderin to a PCB
anyone else

Soldering?
Howdy,
Like the others said get a good soldering iron. Anything from about 15-30 watts is good. A lot of them will come with directions on how to tin the tip of the iron but if not it's not hard to do. You have to use rosin core solder. If you use acid it will eat up whatever you are soldering. Some tips I can think of right now are. The bigger the part you are soldering the bigger the tip you need. For most R/C and electonics work you need a fine to med. sized tip. If you are soldering large connectors then you need a large tip. The bigger the work the larger the tip you need because it needs more heat. If you are soldering wires together you should always tin them first. This gets solder on them before you put them together and helps them stick. Another most have thing is Rosin Flux. Always use it when you tin wires and most all soldering jobs. Radio Shack carries is in a small tube. What you would do is put a little on the thing you are soldering and then heat it. As it heats and burns off it helps the heat transfer through the work piece better and quicker so you don't hold heat on it to long. As it heats and burns off touch your solder to it. You will notice the solder "wick" into the work piece. Solder always flows toward the heat also. So if you hold your heat at the end of the bare wire and your solder at the opposite end the solder will flow to the heat and tin the wire. These are the main things I can think of right now. If you have anymore questions or need some help don't hesitat to ask. I have been doing electronic work and soldering for about 14 years now and quite a few tips and tricks. Just stop by my site or drop me an email. Hope things helps ya. Later

Thanks alot man.
About soldering like if i break a wire all i got to do is solder the two peices together and it's fixed? That sounds a little to easy
Oh and how's a good way to practice soldering.
I'll check the sight out.

just get a peice of metal or something and a wire and try to connect the wire to the metal. or just take 2 wires and try to put them together.
