copperplated heatsink
This is kind of pointless but I hope it turns out well!
First, get a salt+vinegar solution because it is highly electrolytic and so conducts electricity, and then put a penny or other copper object in there, and also your heatsink. You then connect the wires also connected to a battery (preferably 4.5-9v), positive to the copper and negative to the heatsink. It should bubble if you did it right and in about an hour it should be fully coated.

Make sure you use some kind of sealer on it, or your copper motor clip will turn green and flake off as Oxygen in the air works on it!

I only said kind of pointless...
yeah, it really does improve transfer of electricity, absorbs more heat, and looks really cool!

Wow, I wish I would have paid more attention in chemistry class last year! Good job! I don't even use a heatsink on my car.

Did it wreak the penny because if not I will try it with a canadian dollar (thier gold) because that would look cool but I am cheap and out of money so i dont want to wreak it

Yes, it wrecks the coin, as it physically removes the surface atoms of the coin and deposits them on the the heatsink.
I tried this mod, and it turned out HORRIBLY for me. I followed the instructions using my heatsink, a fresh 9 volt battery, heinz vinegar, and salt. However, i did not get a shiny copper-colored plate, but rather a black coating. When i went to handle the heatsink, the black coating came off on my fingers, leaving the heatsink dull and gray. I dont know what went wrong, but any insight would help. Maybe the iodine in the salt is what left the blackish coating? Or perhaps 9 volts is a little too much?

i'm not sure if you could use gold or not, the only metals I know you can use are nickel and copper. The penny wasn't destroyed, just dirty. Probably an effect of the solution but not a big deal.

yeah, 9v is probly a bit too much. You should only use 4.5v I think
You can also do this on plastic, just coat it with graphite powder first

are you sure Canadian dollars will work?
well anyway here are the EXACT instructions:
1. fill a container with vinegar, then pour some salt in it. Be sure that the salt is fully dissolved, as this is an important part of this!
2.clean the metal you are using and also the heatsink.
3. take a 4.5v battery or battery pack and connect it (preferably using alligator clips) with the positive end on the metal you're using and the negative on your heatsink.
4. insert the metal and heatsink (connected to the battery but not with it) into the salt+vinegar solution. it should bubble if you did it correctly.
