incline grades

Hello all, i'm a newbie here and before I get my first bit I'm already thinking about building a track. Anyway, my question is what is the steepest incline that the bits can climb? I know motors and gear ratios will affect the climbing ability.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of variables to your question.
Gear ratios
Motor
tire compound
incline surface
acceleration distance before incline
length of incline.

From a standing start, my bit with a 2.2 motor, orange gears, and the standard black tires can handle an approximately 30 degree incline on vinyl and have managed over 45 degrees with a running start (can we say jumps are fun?).

yeah, i figured this would be a difficult question. but the 30 degree incline from a standing start is a good reference point. basically, i'm thinking of a track with a bridge or two and just need to know what angle i should stick with to make sure the bits can go up.

a loooonnngg time ago in a land far far away, cowfish once had a track. It was a figure eight with a bridge.
This bridge was tricky business because i did not have that much space, only about 3 ft. It needs to be mellow enough to roll over (barely nothing) and has to fit a bit underneath. Remember antennas. If you can get the underside of the bridge smooth, then you can make it so the antennas rub on it.

Most of all, test it before you build it to completion.

(Message from TheFanMan): a good way to scale and measure the bridge would be to make it about a 1/2 inch taller than a bit. This way you have enough clearence for a bit and you can still get enough power to roll over it
