Batteries...

Im planning to do a dual cell mod to a clone i have, my clone does not have a Tomy 50mah NiCd battery, which i traded a 2.6 for 2 of em. So my question is, is it ok if i swap batteries, instead of using the clone battery, use a tomy one? Hope you guys can help, thanks. Oh yea, i have another question, anyone have any tips on painting rims? Or removal of the chrome on the rims? I dont feel like taking apart my car just to paint the rims, is there any way just to paint them when they are on the chassis? Thanks again for anyone who helps.

yeah it'll be fine if you swap the batteries. And as far as painting on the chassis...hmmm....I wouldn't. I didn't that once and the front wheels got gummed up with paint. I had to swap them out because after that the car leaned to one side and would never go straight....of course that was also my first time to paint rims like that and I wasn't too careful. I don't know...I'd say take'em off personally.

take em off

the back ones are easy, tape up the gear and axle then paint away. the front rims...i took the pin out fron the plastic axle, shoved a piece of wire throug the hole of the rim, and painted away. use a clear coat after the paint. my first set i painted quickly scratched back to the silver.

are you spraying or using a brush, because i definitely recommend brushing. also, if you don't clear coat, just wait a while to play with it. I did not clear coat mine, but it works pretty well (as long as you can drive good)!

paint tips

Well it just so happens I paint houses for a living. so I will give some info. first to get the chrome off use an x-acto knife very gently to peel it off. Second rough up the suface you want to apply paint to, but dont use a low grit sandpaper. use somthing like 220 grit or higher, you dont want to mar the surface of the wheel. next use primer first!!! people like to throw paint on somthing and say thats good . well paint is a very slick substance and it also need somthing to grab on to, primer does that job. if you dont your paint will have a tendancy to peel or flake very easily. so primer is the way to go. Last as far as taking the wheels off to paint thats your preferance, as far as application use a brush, use thin coats, very thin on somthing like that. Build up 2 or 3 coats to hava great turnout. I do much fine brush work on delicate, intricate trim, moldings, you name it. these are thing I have learned in my years of painting and I hope anyone can use my know-how.

P.S. use the primer luke, use the primer.
