I am a self proclaimed geek, especially with computers, but on all the forums i have ever been on i would never dare to waste bandwidth proclaiming my post number. i dont care if i have 6 or 600. its all the same.
Having alot of posts doesnt make you smarter either, nor does it make you better than a newb. In some cases more posts means more lame.
