Battery motor combo

If I buy a 150mAH NiMH Cell what is the highest motor I can use in my Zip zap? I have no other mods.

The limitation is dependent on the PCB version of your ZZ.

If you've got one of the new models (with the knubby plastic on the controllers), then you've probably got a new PCB which means it's got less current resistance and therefore could probably use any motor available.

If you've got an original PCB (the plastic on the controller is pretty much flat, which is what I have), then you're in a tough position...Basically the R-Spec and 3.8 motors will have problems running on this PCB. I can't verify if the 3.0 or 3.2 motors would work because I don't have those motors.

150 mAH only means slightly longer run times. More Volts, more power. This is why dual cells and Li-Poly's are so popular. It really makes a huge difference.

Another thing you have to consider is which Zip do you have. One with the old PCB or the new PCB? The new PCB's are fixed and send a lot more power to the motor and steering coils. These have only been found on the Gold Civic and Black Mustang. Some of those have even been known to come with the old PCB's. But, No one has ever found a new one on the older cars...that I know of.

If you have an old Zip, NOS is the best you can do. If you have a new Zip with new PCB, everything below a 3.5 should work.

Since I don't have a newer ZZ with revised PCB, there's no way I can promise you that the R-Spec will work.

If someone has an ampmeter to test, that would be great. The R-Spec needs 230mA at dead stop to get going.
