zz cars into boats...

I was down at a creek behind my house and i had an idea of a zip car conversion into a boat...but the thing is there are many ways to do this and i want your opinions and ideas. My idea was get a styrofoam box that could hold the car (palm size), then get some thin wires bend it over the back of the half box holding the zip with a propelor on one end of the wire. The thing is i havent put too much time into this so i wouldnt really know how to put the gears a spinnin. Remove back wheel and make a custom one for this job...thanks

It won't work. The water will get into the mechanics and mess it up. Other people have had this idea and failed at it. Sorry, but it is a hard thing to master.

maybe u get wrong idea the thing is fully *well not fully* protected the only thing exposed is the top of the car and the propelor would be totally in water so it wouldnt splash up

i guess that could be done with some kinda connection to a fin behind the motor causing it to turn

i think that making kinda of like a hovercraft but without the hover, cause that would require alot more power and toque, but like have a propeller and the eletromagnets turn a little rudder to direct the air, or if you really have you heart set on a boat, you could do anyhting like wire in extra motor or two or just use the existing electromagnets to drive a fin on the underside of the boat through a shaft or something.

These look pretty cool. Anybody here ever seen one in action? Based on what I've seen the average price is around 15 to 20 bucks. If I had my pick I'd get the red one.

just get a boat from like hot wheels or somthing, get two spare motors and solder wires to and from the battery and the engines. get some electrical tape to protect the motors from the water and heat up a nail and melt a clean hole (if the boat is plastic). Peace

Weird, I was thinking of this earlier tonight. Welp, I know a BIT Racer can live through water. Tested it tonight..wouldn't have a control method..but it'd go.

You're looking at this thing like you're Rube Golberg (did I spell that right?). What you need is another gear riding on the axle gear, then runs it up or down to a prop w/ a propeller. This would allow for "driving" straight into water. Then a rudder could be hooked up to the steering. It would work well with a ZZ SE. You run a second servo in parallel, then hook it up in the back on a rudder with a hinge. there ya go! Make a hull, waterproof electronics (shrink wrap), and you're set. The only problem is charging. For that, you'd have to make a wire that would "plug" into the controller. Another one of my rants, but I think that sums it up. Also, it would go into water like this car...
