7 Cells?

ive done a 6 cell mod and now i want even more power speed. It's 8.4 volts, that's awfully close to 9v. Is this the way to go? or should i get some more aftermarket parts instead?

I'm running 8.7V with no problems, people have had mixed results running a 7th cell, some have killed their cars, some complained the the handling suffered too bad and one guy even stated it was too heavy (hard to believe) and lost his acceleration. It's a gamble, I'd go with trying to rewind and magnet/swap a motor or bumping up to a 180 or 260 motor

ok thanks. ill have to wait until april so i can order some electronics. any parts that i can just put in and get some more performance? i was thinking of Tiny's CF driveshaft set.

The driveshaft will reduce weight (slightly) and is stiffer (but not bendable) like the stock, however the extra weight of the batteries would most likely make this negligable. I'd concentrate on degreasing the bearings and slicking them up with some graphite or slick50 lube and then the motor (play around and see what works best), then lightening the car, trim off excess plastics with your dremel. If you want to get wild, hollow out all the unneeded mounting points and platic on the inside of the body and then glue your bumpers and groundfx on and use some super sculpey to fill in the lines...It'll take a lot of time, but you can end up with a mean machine!

ok thanks. i got an old civic body im working on. took out the winshield and sunroof. im in the process of hollowing it out. should i move the extra batteries to the back now that i have more room?

EDIT: i forgot, i already cleaned them. i posted how in "Cleaning Bearings"

the cf drive shafts are extremely light compared to stock causeing acceleration to make a massive jump and also gives some more top speed it accelerates your car faster because it is lighter

thanks, the CF driveshaft will be straight too right? my driveshaft is slightly bent in the middle. and since i added 2 extra cells the driveshaft and batteries will just counteract each other right? or do the 2 batts increase the power to weight ratio more than i think.

Exactly, the main purpose of the CF driveshaft is not to save 4 grams, it's to reduce the rotating mass, which in turn results in quicker acceleration, and better throttle response.

I assume they're all pretty much the same. The only "different" CF driveshaft is the hollow one found at Decals-R-Us located here.

I went with Slugbugg's, and I've got nothing but good things to say. Three shafts for $10, shipped. They're well made and he even customised my order a little at no extra charge.
