I just got the one from tiny about a month ago, its a 3/2 saddle pack soldered together with nubs on 2 ends that connect to spring contacts that you slide in where the 4 cell battery springs normall go. You can slide the contacts (from esc) in and out, so you can disconnect the batteries when not in use. Hope this helps.

From what I gathered, the old 4 cell designed used a normal 4 piece battery compartment, with springs for every cell. With the new 5 cell, the batts are soldered together, the normal battery springs are removed (which had a contact on each side of every battery) and no just has 2 contacts with the battery pack. But I never had or saw one of the old models so I'm not positive.

Yea, there are 2 2 cell trays that the batteries fit into. The 5th cell stacks like a pyramid on one of the sides (they're shrinkwrapped into a pack).

Don't think so, they're an exact fit for the batteries. Why bother tho, the care starts as 5 cell and all you have to do is buy or make your own 6 cell pack... I'm sure you could do more if you wanted to do a square style 4 cell configuration on each side... tho don't think I've heard of anyone running an X off more than 6 cells.

Tiny sells the an xpress brand charger that was like $20 or something and designed for the mini-x battery pack. He seems to be out of stock tho, but you can pick one up here
http://microrcracing.com/mini_x_4wd.htm

I've emailed Tiny a few times about the next restock on mini-x parts, even posted and he doesn't seem to be answering email or responding to posts (that or he's ignoring me).

Depending on how much you want to pay you can get a nicer charger anyway. I have the bc 100 or whatever charger from xpress, which works fine for charging what I have. The nice thing about the more expensive ones would be configurable current rates etc. so you can charge a greater variety of cells and number of cells. I'm not positive, but I bet you could use the fancy ones to charge your bits too if you have them (and I bet it would do a better job that the ****ty quick charge the controller does).

Can anyone with a bit more knowledge confirm any of this or reccomend a good charger?
