If you use 2 batteries on your car for a total of 2.4V, them could you rewire your remote to run on 2.4V? Then you could recharge the car and maybe get more range!
Since your transmitter(remote) uses 2 AA alkline batteries that are 1.5 volt each, your remote is allready being powered by 3 volts.
So what would be the point of reducing the voltage? I think you talking about adding an extra battery to the remote, which would bump the voltage up to 4.5 volts.

The remote uses 2xAA batteries, which comes out to 3.0v (if you use Alkalines). That's what is fed to the controller...But the electronics squeeze it down to 1.5v when sending to the charger.
You could put 2xAA NiMH batts in your controller, that would juice it down to 2.4v...but less juice in the controller means less juice to the antenna (less range)
