Kay, but when I charge with 4AA's for 1.5 minutes my run time is drastically shorter and my power is noticeably less. When I charge with 6AA's, the cells don't get very warm, so I just figured I would get better run time and power with less charge time and no cell damage. It's worked for me for a long time now, but if you don't want to use more than 3AA's that's cool too. It just won't perform very close to it's full potential. 1.5v is good, but the mah is not enough with AA's. You could do an AC charger with higher mah, like 800mah or so at a low voltage, but I still charge my 3cell car for 1.5 minutes on 7.5 volts with mine.

Good Luck!
