me i have three guns one to melt plastic (don't want to smelly up a good gun, now i just use the dremel cuz it's more precise) a lower power one for smaller wires/circuitry ect... and a huge one for big wires (speaker wire 110Vmains voltage) they heat up in about 5-10 seconds as apposed to a whopping 5-10 minutes for a iron. so that means i can solder to batterys really quickly. i personally like guns and people who use my guns who are used to irons say they quite like how quick the guns heat up but arn't used to the shape/weight. it's just a matter of preference and you're own style.
