You can tighten up or loosen up the gearing a little by rotating the motor in the compartment. If you place the the motor in with the metal tab toward the front of the car, it will push the pinion gear away from the chassis gear a little freeing it up some. If you place the motor in with the metal tab toward the rear of the car, it will press the pinion gear toward the chassis gear and tighten things up. I hope this helps you out. I haven't had this problem with my Shen car. I just pop in a 3.8 and zoom zoom zoom.
