some cars have 2 motors...like the digiQ i beleve...
one motor is faced one way in the front, and another motor is faced the opposite direction on the rear, which is standard..

i havent done this, but i thought about it....
what you would have to do is remove all of the steering junk like steering coils, steering magnet thingy...and front rims itself...
youll probably have to modify you front so that you can fit axles on them with a idle gear also...
but then comes the problem with making both motors turn on when you go forward/reverse...im sure there is a way....
when your car turns, one motor goes backward, while the other goes forward...depending on which way you turn...

although this isnt considered 4 wheel drive..its more like dual motor drive
