If what you are doing is giving a straight shot to ground that is normally current restricted, then you may have something. But, I don't understand the loss of reverse unless you are shorting that side of the circuit. Which would be bad imho.

That sounds like what i'm saying but ,imho not sure what that means it makes the reverse not have enought power to reverse but only brake.
