I don't have an zzse, but from what you're saying, that sounds like it's just a conditioner of sorts. By putting a cap there it allows for more instantanious on, and helps keep the power more consistant towards the end of the battery charge. Infact, if you are going to do a dual cell or add additional electrical stuff (i.e. extra lights), then you might want to look at increasing the size of the cap.
