For those of you who care.....I have the lap counter fully functional now.

The wiring diagram on this site.... http://www.latencyproject.com/miniz/timer/timer.html is inconsistent with the diagram on this site....http://www.i4style.co.uk/vrs/webpage.asp?PageID=13

I reduced my number of lanes down to four and used the diagram on the VRS site and it works perfectly.

Now I can work on driving skills and watch my improvement.
