I agree with arch2b. RS batteries aren't that good for racing. If you have a local hobby shop, you should try picking up some PN or GP AAA batteries. They are designed for quick discharge(45 mins). Radioshack designs its batts to last a long time like Alkalines, so their batteries aren't as quick to discharge. This may cause a decrease in speed.
