Well, I snipped the blue wire, and moved it to the pin just to the passengers side of it on the pot and soldered it on.

I went ahead and reset it and now I have 5 steps to one side, 4 to the other! Hey, not too bad!

Anyway, I think this is a dumb assembly flaw that they haven't caught yet.

I think what pot terminal its on sets the range, and if you wire the two together then the range in one direction ends immediately after the first movement, thereby making one side only have ONE step..
