Controller Pics

Can someone please post some pics of the PCB from the Controller. I was doing some modding and i unsoldered it so i could move the board around easier, and now i forgot where to re-connect it. Thanks for the help.

See if any of the pics HERE help.

Mazultav 09-09-2002 08:34 PM

Thanks but i need to see the other side of the board so i know where the blue antenna wire connects to

Jeeeez, I'm such a nice guy...Alright, I took some pics.

Thanks thats just what i needed

Nice Pics!

I notice that the IC had a Realtek logo on it. I love their LAN card! Now I am wondering that it may not be a custom chip but a off the shelf one.

Hate responding to my own post but that is a generic chip! And get this! If that is a TX2C feeding a RX2C chip then it has these function for that chip set:

Forward, Back, Left, Right and TURBO over Radio RF and IR! Yes Turbo and IR!

RealTek offer different chips covering 2 channel up to 9 and one with Digital Proportional!

This is getting better and better! :)

Nightwing, can you explain this in more detail?

Nightwing 09-11-2002 08:45 PM

Lets see:

Realtek makes a series of RC chips. Except for a digital prop one they range from 2 channel to 9 channel. Our little friend use the TX2/RX2 chips which has 5 channels. I hope its a RX2 under the blob of goo... :)

Here is a link to the TX2C chips.

List of all chips in the series.

Their site is down but here is the key items copied from their site.

===============

TX2C/RX2C
REMOTE CONTROLLER WITH FIVE FUNCTIONS

----------------------------
Major Core Features
----------------------------
Wide and low operating voltage range: 2.2V to 5.0V
Typical oscillator frequency: RF:128KHz. IR :114KHz(Carrier Frequency:57KHz). IR : 76KHz(Carrier Frequency:38KHz).
Provide two transmissive interface(RF and IR) for different application.
RX2C Provide two high effective amplifiers to enhance remote control distance.
Enhance Signal Input recognition capacity for very weak signal.
Auto Power-OFF function for TX2C
Low Standby current (TX2C) and low operating current.(RX2C).
Oscillator with an external resistor.

---------------------------
Peripheral Features
---------------------------
5-function remote controller controlling forward/ backward/ turbo/ right/ left.
Few external components needed.

---------------------------
Application Field
---------------------------
remote controlled toy
remote electric appliance controller

---------------------------
General Description
---------------------------
The TX2C/RX2C are a pair of CMOS LSIs designed for remote controlled car applications. TX2C Is the transmitter and RX2C is the receiver. They provide five function key to control forward, Backward, Rightward, Leftward and Turbo motions. Beside,a combination of these five motions can be played. RX2C Provide two high effective amplifiers and Enhance Signal Input recognition capacity to enhance remote control distance.

If you type in at google "realtek TX2C" you run across this Japanes site. Hang on to your chair! This guy has added three batteries to his controller! The chip can go up to 5 volts. And three batteries produce 4.5volts So it should be safe. The chip can take to 5 volts. This should boost distance! Also shows pinout of the chip, wiring of a power jack and boost button. It tough sledding on reading through babelfish. Have not seen if he has added boost to the car but he did add a Boost button to a stock controller.

Is that what you were looking for? If not holler and will comply. :)

So if you added a turbo button to the stock controller, would that give the regular Bit Char-G a kind of turbo boost on top of their top speed?

The controller is also capable of transmitting an infrared signal aside from the rx signal? You mentioned proportinal control, tell me more!

Some cool stuff, Ive got to say:D

Nightwing 09-11-2002 10:32 PM

From the japanees site he added one to his controller. Have not had the time beyond a quick scan through Babelfish and it had fits in translating it. Found it last night after seeing the pictures of an open controller here.

From what I see that the boost kick it back to normal while off boost kick it in 1/2 power. Basically how the four freq Boost controller from Tomy works. It should work the same.

The proportinal controller is one in the series of about 5 to six different types. Dont think it could be retrofitted to a bit.

I gather it can feed a modulated signal to an final amp/IR LED array for output.

There are no circuit diagram at RealTek to tell what goes where and how signal level work. The Japanes site has some with scope/voltage signals.

This does open some intersting thing.

Wow! Nightwing, you have to try to tap into the powers of this chip and let us know your results!

Nightwing 09-12-2002 12:38 AM

Will do! :)

When I can get the time want to see what this information will go.

Between going mad reading the translation I think the japanese site cover the following:

1) Add 3 Nicads or Metal bats to the controller.
2) Put a jack to charge those battries when its off.
3) Add a "boost" button.
4) The normal Adjust the front end mess. :)

There is somthing about voltages with Alk and Nicads on the car but like trying to figure out Jonny 5 from Short circuit!

From a look for RX2 through google, it may be the same as in a Can car.
