How to make "Camber"
 

not sure if this was posted be4 but for all those people who wanted to put camber on there front wheels of bits this is how...i got 2 versions of it...

Version one:



1take out the front wheels as if you are going to do a fullsize wheel mod

2put the wheel pin back in the knuckle with out the wheel on it (just enough so you can take it back out)

3take pliers and bend the pin up(not to much!!)

4take the pin out from the knuckle

5and put the wheel and pin back into the kunkle and assemble your car back up

6repeat for the other side



Version 2:




1take out the front wheels as if you are going to do a fullsize wheel mod

2take a drill bit that is about the same size as the wheel pin

3drill into the knuckle at a slight angle

4put the wheel and pin into the knuckle

5repeat for the other side



we thats two versions of putting camber on your car..dont put to much of an angle when drilling or bend the wheel pin to much orellse the wheel will rub agains the knuckel..i only did version one on my project car but didnt test it out yet. i still have to fix the chassi because i did the fulsize wheel mod...version 2 sounds good...but i think they will work ok..if u did this or want to add comments to it, just post it.

version one gonna work better IMO.. but camber, well lets just say this... real cars camber usually... (if im not horribly mistaken) at very very VERY shallow angles.... massively cambering the wheels might give you a little bit of a problem.. which i cant be sure of just quite yet..

if u want to NOT mess up ur pins, rip them off a KIT racer front axle... i just discovered that they look the same, and may just work..

*Edit: it sounds like a good idea.. ever thot of toe in/out..? it'd be kinda hard tho

ye the toe in and toe out would be hard....you would have to bend the pins just a tiny bit and might not even be abe to te how u bent them when u try putting them in..wel i thought of this because when i was oing a fullsize mod i bent the pin and the wheel didnt wigge (go up and down and tuff)...so i was like look i made camber!!woohoo!! then i posted so everybody who didnt know how to make camber would know..i saw a pic of a guy with a blue skyline (think it was a skyline) who had like mad camber..he said be would put intructions on how he did it but i dont tink he ever did...you people probaly dont even care that im telling u my story of how i figured it out and why im posting it..but o wel..read if u want..dont if u dont..

Let me know how it handles with the camber adjusted. I wonder if it would make the car not able to go straight, deflect off bumps, or not turn well.

it's more of a coolness factor than anything...
actually, there's no need to adjust camber..as there's no change in the steering geometry on a bit when u steer.

the whole point of camber is to ensure that you maximize the contact patch of the tire with the ground during cornering due to weight transfer. on a normal car the camber changes when u steer, since the weight of the car shifts, compresses the front inside and lifts the front outside suspension. the action of the suspension moving changes the angle that the wheel contacts the ground with. so you adjust the camber to try to make the tire sit as flat as possible when in a corner.

the bit tires already sit flat during cornering. the tiny bit of suspension travel these things have is negligible.

ive seen people do toe-in by carfully shortening their steering arm. Seems shifty to me, but also seems more...mm...cant think of the word....

yea..u can make it for show..like if u have a super dropped car u can put in some camber so the wheels tuck in..that would look hot..i cant try it yet because im not done with it..its on my project car right now and im currently putting the dual cells....

Those adjustments are usually made to real cars using calibrated equipment!

Trying this by hand is probably going to ruin a car that's been a good runner until then. If it goes straight and turns well, why mess with it?

if you aint modding for performance why aint you just putting models together? they have more detail.

why would anyone want to put a camber angle in their bit? that's like adjusting damper to a bit???? i dont think it will make a differnece at all and it will just kill the car. the bit is not that precise in steering. :confused:
