Perfection 3.8 in a stock zip

I just got my order from toyeast and the first thing I did was pop in the 3.8 perfection motor into the new zip I bought today. (Yes I bought another one )
I really am surprised and still sorta in shock as to how quick and torquy this motor is. I pulled out my other 3.8 (got it from this site months ago) and the zip barely pushed it. I really haven't had a fair run with the motor to give it a full write up but you bet I will be testing this all day tomorrow.
Here's a link to the motor..

Well worth the price even with the shipping.

How long did it take to get the 3.8 motor from those Guys???

Also are you running that motor on a stock ZIP ZAP????

sessiz10 02-19-2003 11:21 PM

It took them 9 days to get it here. I live in NY and I ordered on a saturday and monday was a federal holiday. I think that's pretty good, it usually takes them about 5 or 6 days.
I bought a new zip zap today (another black mustang) and it was totally stock. When I got home I saw the toyeast package and ripped everything open. I got an lxx booster, gloria body set and a black celica bit char-g that came with a perfection 3.8. The first thing I did was open up and looked at the motor and decided that I would test the "new zip pcb". This thing REALLY surprised me. The perfection made my other 3.8 look like a chump (in the zip) I'm thinking it's the contact problem.

I bet shipping was a hell of a lot...

sessiz10 02-19-2003 11:56 PM

For 1 motor the price is $10.9?(shipping included) for 2 motors $16.52. If you are interested in ordering anything else from toyeast, I would highly recomend throwing in 1 or 2 of these. I think I'm gonna order a few more. The more you order the cheaper the shipping 5 motors comes out to $33.29 with the shipping. That comes out to $6.65 a motor.

Yeah I was just looking on the site and think I am going to order my First Bit-Char g along with 2 of the 3.8 motors...

I think my total was $41 including shipping...

I put my 3.8 in my ZipZap seems hella slow. I don't know if it's because I'm so used to the speed of it in my MicroSizer. Is it suppos to be going this slow. It's definitely is faster than the stock 16,000rpm performance motor.

Are you talking about the PERFECTION 3.8 that toyeast sells or another 3.8? The tiny 3.8 I got barely moves in a stock zip and lacks any torque. The perfection on the other hand makes me look like this:D

*EDIT-Also which zips are you using? If it's an older (pre 2003) zip and stock, forget it. I ran this on a black mustang I bought today.

I don't know if it's new. I get the Zip on Monday. Got the 3.8 on Ebay. It's weird because I have this OEM motor which acts like a 3.0 in my Microsizer. Comparing the 3.8 motor and the so called 3.0 motor in the ZipZap, the 3.0 one goes faster. It's the other way around in my MicroSizer though.

Okay here are the times (rounded off to nearest sec) :
(new black mustang, stock everything, 22ft tiled surface)
Turbo motor = 8 sec
Nos motor = 7 sec
Bit 2.6 = 6 sec
3.8 perfection = 5 sec
Bit char-g motors 3.8 = Dead, in the first run  and slower to start.

I guess the perfection motor in a stock zip can be easily rated at between a 2.8 and 3.0.
I next put the perfection motor in a 49mhz MS and it ran at a possible 5sec, I say possible because it was tough going strait for the full 22ft. The car would spin out after about 7ft. Unfortunatly becuase the bitchar -g motors 3.8 died on me I couldn't compare it in the MS, but I remember it being faster in the ms.

This is only a prelim time trial. I've gotta get a couple more perfections and some other 3.8s in order to get a good indication. I also wanna try this motor in some of my other zips. I'll keep yall posted.

For straight time trials I use Hot Wheels track. Then the car is guaranteed to go straight. If you have any try it out.:)

I never thought of that, thank you. I do have a track with a 10ft straight and I normally use that. I just figured that I'ld bring these cars to work and use the shear expanse of tiled floor to get a clear 20+ft.

How fast is a 3.8 suppose to go in a ZipZap. Tell me how it acts compared to a MS with an X motor.

sessiz10 02-20-2003 11:03 PM

It's hard to say. I would assume like a 3.8. I'm gonna test it in some of my zip char-g (pcb swaped zip) and my other stock zip and see how it compares to a bit. I was gonna do some comparisons but I was pissed about the bit char-g motors 3.8 dying on me so I packed everything up.
