rally track; how much can a bit handle?
 

i am making a rally track out of old paper napkin rolls. I dont have a bit yet, because i need to get some cash first, but am board like crap and wanted to do something. i am using thin carboard to make little ramps up the side, like washboards. (whoop-de-doos)
How much can a bit handle?("ralley" wise) i have also made some little jumps and stuff too. I will try to post pics when i get a chance. anyone tried a ralley coarse before with regular bits?

They can only handle an incline of about 15-20 degrees.
I have already built one so check out these pics for inspiration.

and if your going to be using dirt on the track let me recommend
going to a Dollar Store and picking up Cinnamon! It looks the part and smells a hell of alot better than dirt.

At first I was using baby powder, but then I thought cinnamon would look alot more like dirt, and so Presto! All you have to do is blow out the bits with a can of compressed air.

I use both regular Bits and I have a booster (Fairlady).

I actually prefer the booster than a regular bit because of all the turns, and secondly when your taking a hill I like to take them unboosted, then when I get stuck I kick in the booster and away you go. Here's another angle.

hi im new.....but not new to bits....I have an idea. Instead of using cinnamin over and over again. Get some 3M and spray all over the area you want to have "dirt" on. Spread out an even amount (or not even for that authentic dirt look) of cinnamin on the track surface. Make sure you have just what you want on the track, maybe even add some paper underneath the cinnamin to create a bumpy texture.

Then after its all how you want it, Get some 3M spray adhesive and spray it alllll over the whole track surface of cinnamin on top. This way you are sure the cinnamin will stay put when you are "rally racing" over it.

If you are not sure you want to do this to your preciuos rally course, cut out an EXACT layout of the track area you want to be "dirty" in paper. Do the same thing to the paper as you would the track, then just layout the paper ontop of the track surface. For it to be secure stick some double sided tape on the bottom of it.

Hope this helps you guys in your rally track building experiments!!! (ps make sure to :blift: the body off the chassis before performing serious offroad stunts :D )

i will attempt to make a scale version of the PIKES PEAK RACEWAY!!!! AHHAAHAhahahahh haahh ha ah.......:D . That would be wicked cool with a Lancer Evo Rally bit car sliding around the corners just like on the WRC!!!

Actually Kev I used sandpaper for the track, the cinnamon is there for show, and something to run through.

anyone have a map or picture of pikes peak? i haven't seen it before.
