WoW!Pullback wheels in a bit!
I've posted some days before about the new TOMY pullback,and specially about the rear wheels...
At the same time with my pullbacks my Bensu/Thunderbolt clones arrived...They are a lot faster than bits and I had no traction in most surfaces! One hour and one dead pullback later I had the solution! Pullback wheels in a bit!!! Wow! The wheels are really wide,and they have the same height as the front wheel so you get the same lowering effect you get with all front wheel mod! and if this wasn't enough I got traction everywhere!The tires are so soft that you can imagine...even in the most slipery surfaces I got perfect traction(with a small dose of drift when turning hard at full speed)...Plus less rattle with the gears! Actually I like so much my clone now that I race it more than my bit's... If you don't have the german rims and you want traction trust me!THis is the solution!For 6 bucks you get a great body and an awesome pair of wheels and tires which weight next to nothing and offer great traction...Even with 2.2s or 2.6 try these mod and you will remember me.... Nice job on the mod MythosGR, do you plan on swapping the front wheels too?

Yes I'll swap and the fronts but this time in a TOMY bit not in a Clone...
I'm wating another pack of pullbacks and when they arrive(together with axles) I'll go for it... anyway I hope everyone like it and thanks for moving the topic! |

Are the front wheels just as wide? Can you take a pic of what the rim design is? It's hard to tell cause it's black.. Thanks

payaso the front rims are also wider than the bits but are also smaller!
I'm going for rear pullback wheels in both front and rear I'm just out of wheels now! There are to rim designs and the 5 spoke is pretty cool the one I'm using might not look so cool but fits perfect the ae86 body I'm going to use... I'll try to post a clearer pic but anyone with a digital and a pullback can do it better than me! |

Ok so I just completed my transforming my 'Drift Axel' (which is pretty useless to begin with) into a 'Drag Axel'! Man this thing is damn cool! It wasn't difficult at all really, it's just like any other 'wheel mod'. Here's what I did:
To do it correctly you should really have a dremel or some kind of rotary tool. Reason being is that 'Bit/MS' axel is too long when the 'New' wheels are put on... it needs about an 1/8th of an inch to be shaved off so that there won't be any play when it's attached to the chassis. When I had put the wheels on the axel for a mock test, I noticed that the 'Bit/MS' axel was thinner than the 'Pullback' axel :(. To remedy this I wrapped the ends of the 'Bit/MS' axel with 'Plumbers sealing tape' to make a snug fit before gluing them on. Glue the new wheels to the axel, give it time to dry (I gave it about 12hrs.) hook it up and have FUN! I do regret to say that the front wheels didn't turn out so well though, upon removing them from the pullback knuckle my hand slipped resulting in a mangled wheel :(. Oh well I'll have to get another pullback and try, try again. :) |

Man...I wish i had a digital camera....I did this conversion Wednesday. I used the front and the rear wheels of the pull back. On the front wheels I had to use some spacers I made, because the rim and tire were rubbing on the steering joint. I didn't have my dremel with me so I just used wire cutters to trim the rear axle. I used the original gear that came with the axle to help get the wheel straight by glueing the hub and the rim to the gear. I had to use a spacer on the hub on the non gear side to extend it to have the right side to side balance.
Hopefully I can get my friend to let me borrow his digi cam. this week. |
short comment but those rims a wheels lok like some nice gumballs (racing tires). i like the way it looks, black on black, heh
