Really, Absolute Max Voltage for PCB?
I have heard, like everyone, that 5 volts is about it.
But, What is the most voltage that anyone here has ACTUALLY tried to pump thru a Bit or ZZ pcb- WITHOUT frying it?? The reason I ask is that I am building a dragster (thanks Ripper for the inspiration!) and want some serious power. I can build a 5 or 6 cell battery pack just as easily as a 4 cell :) . My test pcb will be a ZZ board I have left over from the clone pcb swap I did on one of my ZZ- If I fry it with 5 or 6 cells, who cares? Just wondering what people have REALLY done. Thanks! John |
Johnrtse, you are correct. On the Zip Zaps forum now, the first thread is about somebody's 4 cell dragster. He/she had 4.8 volts going through the PCB without wrecking it. If that can happen, try 6 volts.

I belive someone has done 9 volts but that was with a LARGE motor. Isn't the 9 volts still running through the board though. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but i think its the current that would fry and board and not the voltage.

That's great news!
I want to use the RC controller boards with some relays to control other stuff if I can. A big part of that is being able to run it close to 5v to operate the small relays I have. I also have some latching circuits I can add for a push0n-push off effect. These boards are so tiny that I could use three together to give a larger mobile platform some interesting features. |
i think the nine volts was triggered with a transistor:confused:

it was a 9 volt battery sitting on top of the car with a large motor attatched to it. The guy said it didn't run worth **** with the motor setup he had on it, but he still have a 9 volt battery.

I have an LXX with 4 cells and it hasnt blown yet!

Oh yeah, I just forgot about that site. Just think how much he/she would need for that Bit to prevent wheelies.
