Super Bright LEDs!

Was looking for places online to buy LEDs and I ran across this site that sells "Super Bright LEDs". Some of these push >9000 mcd< (that's frickin' bright!) and are relatively cheap. Just thought I'd share as it seems everybody's been talking about LED's lately.

the only problem with leds that bright is when you turn it on it will look like your driving a lightbulb. it also will be draining the battery a lot...

I wouldn't mind driving a light-bulb! Anyway, to avoid this you might want to just back them with some aluminum foil or something in an attempt to make them uni-directional.

As far as the battery drain, it would definitely draw more, so maybe a second or third NiMH could be dedicated to the lights.

Has anybody used LEDs this bright on their car?

I tried something close to 9000 MCD once on my Mini-Z... It hurt my eyes too much when the car was coming back.... 3500MCD is already enough....

I use black electrical tape to prevent light coming through the shell and to back the LEDs.

Paint the LEDs with silver paint. BAE
