heres a simple solution incase your rear axle doesn't snap into the mounting points
if this is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move it to the appropriate one. thanks
what i did was take part of a match and slide through an opening in the center near the axle as described in the pic. make sure the match goes over the axle, not under it. so far it works very well. the match is stiff enough to hold the axle so the gears touch, yet not rough to the point where the axle won't spin at all. heres a pic http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...2/fce0d4bc.jpg |
Nice idea!
What I did when my clone bits axle kept slipping out was to put some exoxy putty over the worn parts, left it to dry, then re-drilled the holes, hey presto, a new axle holder! ----While the putty was still wet I poked out the hole where the axle does go with a sewing needle, so that I did not drill into the plastic later on due to not knowing where the hole is ,all I did with the drill was widen it. |
great idea! what kind of match u use? the wooden one or the cardboard 1?

My gears were so bad that if you turned left, the gears would completely disengage and then proceed to lock up. This fixed it..very nicely.
i cut a wood match in half till it slid snugly in that hole you were showing, and the axle was just like new. Good stuff. Once again, my subaru just BARELY works. wonder how long it will last this time. |
I had worn axle mountings!
I fixed mine by using modelling epoxy putty. 1. I took the axle out 2. Put the putty at both sides where the axle clips in. 3. Get a sewing needle and push a hole through the original axle hole. 4. Let the putty dry. 5. Cut a THIN SLOT for the axle to slide though. 6. Put ur axle in! 7. Done! |

I tried the glue gun thing n found that it stuck to the axle!
I do think that it must have been the type of glue i was using, cos there are about 3 different types!:) bc24m |
Hmm, how about piece of a spring?
I like the match stick idea, and came up with a similar plan, involving a piece of spring wire. I stretched out an old tape player spring, and cut and looped one end around a small screw, which just fits the holes under the motor. The other end of the spring is bent so that it just lightly holds the axle in place.
The hardest part is bending the spring to give just the right amount of contact, without slowing axle down too much. I have my spring directed more towards the geared side of the axle. (since that was the end that was vibrating the most) |
I use a toothpick and tape it on. It works perfectly fine, and its really easy to make the holes for the wheelie bar without messing up the tape.
