gear difference?

hey, i was wondering if there is a big difference in the top speed with teal (green) gears opposed to the stock orange gears? and is it worth the $6-$8? thanks in advance -Socca

bump.. sorry, just want everyone to see this tomorrow =)

Depends....the teal gears will give you less acceleration/torque but greater top speed (good for long run drags and such) while the orange stock will give you a sort of in between torque and top speed. And if you get the gear set it'll come with a blue set of gears which will max out the torque of the engine but, as you guessed it, will lower the max top speed.

So in answer, yes the teal gears will get you more wheel RPM and thus a greater top speed. (but again keep in mind less torque) You could even use gears for the Bit Racers (considerably higher top speed gear ratios but a lot less torque) but I can't vouch too much for those as of yet since I don't have any within my possession. Though hopefully that will be remedied soon. :D

Anywho, sorry for the long windedness, hope this helps!

Ok, for some of us that have yet to get the real thing. ( i get to pick mine up today hopefully) how do i figure out what kinda gears i have on my clone... i.e. tiny pinion gear, or larger pinion gear. how does the gearing work... im a bit confused in this area.

thanks.

btw im down to one clone.. the dog chewed one up last night!

:o b26 :o

they pretty much all come with the middle gear ratio. ive played with all 3 gears and it all depends on the motor and surface that you ride on. if you tend to ride on carpet use the torque gear(ive seen several colors from several brands) or the middle. if you only drag race or ride on really smooth floors id use the high end gear. i just keep the middle and have a really torquey motor. its fast enough to blow the doors off of a zipzap with the nos in it.

I find that the blue gearset (low speed) runs faster on my 2.6 than the teal gears do on my 2.2. Thats probably because my 2.2 is shoddy and runs really poorly, but the gears definately make a difference.

Unless you mean canadian, gears should cost about $5 for a set.

Also, I have the super top speed gearset, the 3.43:1 from a Bit Racer (aka Hot Wheel KIT Racer) and its incredibly fast, if I give my car a push to start it and it has like a million feet of perfectly flat ground ahead to accelerate. I will let everyone know if my soon-to-be dual battery setup can use these gears, but as far as I know, no Bit can use them running 1.2 volts.

someone needs to figure out how to attach a 9v battery to one of these things with out frying it. that would be a sight!
