Digi-Q R Question

Has anyone confirmed if the wheels on the AE86 and RX-7 on the Digi-Q "R" actually turn, or if they are just loose. Does anyone actually have one of these, so I could get some idea how they perform? Also, the new "R" models come in slow, medium, and fast. Is this from different motors or gearing, or just different programming that might be adjusted with a Digi-propo special? Thank you.

So...........

Does this make it work better than regular Digi Q???

I'm eager to learn all the details about the racing wheels too! :)

OKDigiQ 01-22-2003 09:33 AM

Yes it does make a huge difference in handling. My Trueno handles so much better than my skyline. I'm sure everyone wants to know if the axles are swappable (is that a word?). I have swapped the straight axle from my skyline into the Trueno, it fits perfect, but the handling was terrible. It made it spin out at a touch of the wheel. I would say that it is much better than a standard DigiQ.
My next test will be to swap the axle from my Trueno into the Pitwork-Skyline I should get in the mail today. Don't know if it will fit but I'm gonna try. I don't see shy it wouldn't based on the swapping I did with the regular Skyline, but I don't want this to be misleading. I'll let everyone know the results.

OKDigiQ, Great info! Thanks for the comparison... keep us updated on the Trueno axel/wheels ---> Pitworks mod, sounds like a cool fusion.

And Welcome to TinyRC! :)

OKDigiQ,

Thanks for the great info! Boy, if you can fit those racing wheels
into the Pitworks, that would be so awesome! I will cross my
fingers and toes and pray that it can be done :D

OKDigiQ 01-23-2003 07:56 AM

No problem, glad to help.

You can uncross you fingers and toes, and stop praying.

It works perfect!!!! The front portion of the chassis where the axle fits is identical on both cars. All I have to do now is swap out the rear wheels so the color matches and life will be wonderful!

does your pit skyline come with lights?
will this mod work on teh nsx?
i have a ae86 but i really want teh light feature also.

thanks

OKDigiQ 01-23-2003 09:44 AM

Yes the Pit Skyline has the lights, it appears to be the exact same chassis as the NSX-R. I didn't look for numbers or anything but physically they look identical.

Yes it will also work on the NXS-R, I just popped the body off of it and it also has the same chassis "connection" for the front axle.

sengming 01-23-2003 10:33 AM

can you give me instructions on how to take off the body?
i have teh ae86 so there's no screw..but i'm afraid of braakin it.
thanks

OKDigiQ 01-23-2003 10:56 AM

It just pops off. I usually hold the car by the front wheels and pull the front of the body off first, then pull the body off. You shouldn't have to use too much force. Kind off push with your finger on the front off the body forward then up. Hope this helps, it's kind of hard to explain.

sengming 01-23-2003 11:10 AM

thanks.
i have 1 q's: can i swap teh turnings wheels fromt eh ae86 to any older digi q ex. wrx, rsx etc.

thanks

keal 01-23-2003 04:18 PM

OKDigiQ,

Thanks for doing the surgery, that is such good news!
I'm really looking forward to getting the Trueno so I can
play with some wheel swapping :)
