Atomic Z cars?
 

are the atomic Z cars any good? the BCs that come in a capsule and pylons/cones. this site says its good http://www.microracers.com/compare.htm , however i think if you use tips like the ones on QFM, your BC can top this z car. They come with pylons and only cost like 15 dollars on ebay, so if theyre any good i might get one.

thanks for the help. i didnt notice that z cars were on that page. Nonetheless fi still dont like the bodies, and the controller shape.

I found an atomic Z car in one of the Discovery channel stores. There are two different models, one with a stock 2.2 motor and one with a 1.0 motor. I think the 1.0 model is the newer model (could be wrong here), and its really hard to tell which one you're getting. The big advantage is that it comes in 27 and 49 MHz (they are crystal controlled) so you've got a few more frequencies to play with.

I also dropped a bit-charG motor (2.6) in the 1.0 model and it works great, with just a touch of aluminum foil stuffed in behind the rear contact.

In my case, the atomic Z car was the first I had seen, so I bought it locally at that time. I don't mind seeing a little competition if it will help drive down the price somewhat, and maybe get some new features added.

Is the Hobbico Microsizer the same? Its hard to find Tomy products in the US.

I might pick up a few bit-CharGs by internet so I'm able to race more cars at the same time.

Read the article I linked to for Atomic...It gives the breakdown on pretty much ALL the OEMs or clones or foreign distributors, including Hobbico and the US branded Bits (MicroSizers).

on the link at the top with the comparison, it says that the controller doesn't have LED's and they were wrong! HA!..... wow I'm bored...... but bit char-g is still the better car and those damn bubbely Z-cars are just cheap crap.... sorry:D

I have read that article since posting. That's really an informative site, but I wish they had a better cross section, i.e. more of each car to test.

I think my next project may be a portable track for micro-RC cars.

Fanman, can you be a little more specific why the z-cars are cheap crap? I do respect your raw opinion, but I'd like to know what led to it. I know a lot of others feel the same way.

I think that these cars were made for small children, mayb not really small, but you get it. they were designed so that they can be driven just about anywhere without the owner giving a damn about wether the car will get crap stuck in it. BC-G's have a certain something about them that gives you a pasion for racing them. Wanting to expand, make them better anyway you can... this is a tiny RC made for people who love to tune things up and change things to make them better. z-cars are childs play compared to the bc-g, it's for elementary school kids to take to school so that they can show it off and make others ooh and aw at it and see how small it is.... completely for show... they even come with their own display case! thanks for your time... I know I ramble on... but I thought I had to get my point across like the end of every Steven Speilberg movie... *phew* gotta take a deep breath :o

Thanks, this helps. And you're definitely right about hair and crap slowing it down.

For the same reasons you posted above, I'd also like to pick up a Kyosho mini-z. There's a lot of custom mods out there for these and I'd like to try a few of my own.
