For those with booster sets/2 speeders

Although this may be my first post to this board, I have learned a considerable amount. I've been reading and searching on this board for almost 2 weeks and almost all of my questions have been answered. But, I just want to confirm something.

I just ordered the Tomy Auto Modellista set. For those who have booster cars, are these actually faster (while boosting of course) then a car with the same gearing/mods and motor size? I've heard it go both ways all over the board but there does not seem to be a positive conclusion.

PS: I've attatched (wow you can't do this at MX6.com !!!) a picture of myself, remember, drool is bad for keyboards. (just kiddin)

yes,

in my experience they are faster than an unboosted counterpart. And when u get auto modellista, you wont be dissapointed.

I can confirm that they are faster.:)

Thanks guys, I was hoping for that answer. Anything not already on this site (like common knowledge stuff) that I need to know?

Zakkorn 12-05-2002 04:51 PM

Eeeh....

Drive Carefully:D

atcually no...u can find out about everything from here. my only advice to you is.......be careful when you open up your car. cause its a pain soldering the little steering wires

Procrastinator 12-05-2002 09:48 PM

Thanks again guys.

Eventually I plan on getting a soldering iron and doing some of these little mods. I've read several posts that say to practice before you try to solder your bit. How exactly can you practice lol?

If I get good i suppose I could solder my friggin mod chip into my real car!

i was under the impression that a 2 speed car runs slow and then at max motor potential when boosted, giving the turbo boost effect. am i wrong? to elaborate, if i have a 2.2 in my car, unboosted it would run at about 1.6 or something and then run at 2.2 when i hit the boost button, so that it seems to have had an extra pick me up when in reality it is not starting at 2.2 and over exerting the rpm capacity of the motor.....i thought a 2.2 is the max a 2.2 would go...........I THINK

Pojo 12-05-2002 10:39 PM

you would be correct aero

i could have sworn that i read it somewhere, but if you think about it it makes sense........how could a 2.2 be pushed to say a 2.4 or 2.6??? if you listen when you run the car unboosted it sounds as if somethins is holding it back and it lets up when you boost it to release its full rpm potential............

SiK_pNoi_sTyLez 12-05-2002 10:45 PM

no

it's true it is slower unboosted, but it smokes a 2.2 boosted!

no doubt, i have an ms w/ a 2.2 and a fairlady z w/ a 2.2 and the z def. wins, but how can a 2.2 be pushed higher than its limits??

SiK_pNoi_sTyLez 12-05-2002 11:49 PM

i dunno

I have no clue

Blue Bit 12-06-2002 12:35 AM

the 2.2 on a booster(boosted) is faster than a 2.2 on a non-booster. From my personal tests results.

aero is right in theory, but it's hard to believe that a 2.2 can be shoved over it's limits...even tho the facts are right there
