Anyone buy from Hobby Link Japan before?

My GF wanted to buy me the Auto Modelista set and 4-ch controller for Xmas. HLJ seemed to be the cheapest by far. Of course, they don't tell us until AFTER we checkout that both items are on BACK ORDER. It's not that big a deal to cancel the order...but why the hell did they just waste 20 minutes of our time?

All the site says is it could be up to a few weeks to get new stock in. Should I wait it out? My GF would be pissed if it didn't get here for Xmas. :o

do you have the link of the site?

http://www.hlj.com

And their Char-G section:

Umm if you read all the headings you will find out that if the item title is in black, they have it. If not...well you know the case.

They are a great site to buy from (in my experience). Don't know anything about them and getting back orders in.

Actually I think everywhere is out of stock as well. Your best bet is probably eBay.

I find that toyeast has a HUGE problem with timely shipping. Their prices are good, but i have heard mostly bad about them...i think Usagi (moderator for this and many forums) doesn't like toyeast...

uh oh...I ordered lots from there....meh at least they're cheap!

I've ordered Digis and Bits from HLJ before. So far, I have not had any problems. They have shipped all my stuff quickly and timely. I usually get everything within two weeks. But I have heard some people have had problems with order mixups.

1st. I never heard anything bad for toyeast

2nd. I ordered two times from them and except that they were cheap both orders came in less than a week in very good packages.:)

If you're going to order from Toyeast, it's better for you to buy a whole bunch of stuff at the same time. The cheapest shipping method takes about 2 weeks or so. Express shipping usually takes about 2-3 days, but is very expensive. Their prices are cheap as they are located in Hong Kong, but if you add shipping, it comes out to be the same. Try some of the US stores, some have them, and most don't. I bought my auto modellista set along with a 350Z from www.tinyrctoys.com. The shipping only cost me $3.85 for both, and I got them in 2 days.

I haven't seen www.toy-island.com represented yet.

Pojo 11-27-2002 09:30 AM

hmm

Anyone know how much SAL shipping would be from HLJ? And do their packages usually arrive on the lesser of the dates (i.e 10-20 days, it arrives in 10)? I ask this because I just got $40CDN and I wanna order a booster set to go with my lonely controller. :p
