1/4 mile times
 

ok on a 20foot 7in track me and my friend were doin single runs yesterday and came up with some interesting data.

20ft7in = 1/4 mile divided by 64

my friends zipzap stock zip with the 21.5 motor and red gear was doing anywhere between 6.5 seconds and 5.5 seconds on a linoleum floor.

my clone with the k.i.t. racer orange motor and red zz gear was easily doing 5.2. given that orange motor doesnt fit my motor well very good either.

so i am curious to know what people with 3.8 motors are doing.

so everyone is into paintjobs and neat wheels but nobody actually measures the speed of these things?

i dont really record time i record my wins thats all that counts to me and looks of course yeah and i got a 3.8

hey my friend and i did that this weekend and my 2 speed ran like 4.85 with nos motor. the 2 speed really unlocks its true power

I just picked up a "RallyRacer" from a gas station on my way back from Las Vegas last night and I put in my DKS 3.4 motor and the blue BCG gears. I ran the 1/4 mile in 4.078 No dual battery mod, no other mods except the DKS engine and the gears. The car is SCARY fast. If I don't put the LXX medium tires on it then it flips over everytime I turn. I don't even dare to try a 3.8 motor.

If I could just get the wheelie bar to fit, then I'll be in business.

I know this thread isn't up to date but.
I ran 2 cars on 10ft lenth though. Not enough space for 20ft.
I ran 2.70 seconds with red zz gears and a 2.6 motor
then I ran my crappy car that I run on baby powder with stock rims and a 2.2 motor: 2.80
I ran both of them a couple of times and came up with these averages.
both cars are microsizers

geeze twenty feet ?! dang, i can barely get 15 feet w/o fliping, spining out or running into sumthing ! haha, but i guess ill try, would it be the same if just mulitply my 10' time by 2 ?:rolleyes:

not really. that wouldnt be a fair comparison. that would be like saying in a running race you dont need to do the 800meter race because you could just multiply 100meter sprint scores by 8.

your car isnt up to full speed at 10foot.

I ran my 3 cell Zip Zap on the 20 foot track and came up with somewhere aroung 3.5. It's a bit too fast. I ran it on an $18,000 treadmill at the hospital, and it ran 7.5 mph.

Hmmm, those numbers don't equate chelboed.

20 feet in 3.5 seconds comes out to 3.89 mph (249.35 Scale mph)

7.5 mph = 480 Scale mph

what gears were you using?

I'm using the ZZ low gears. I didn't use a stop watch, I will try again and make sure about my times. The top speed on the treadmill was accurate, though.

Oh, by the way... 20 feet is not scale 1/4 mile. It's just what Bit Char-g decide to use. actual 1/70 scale 1/4 mile is 18.9 feet. Who really cares, anyway. Close enough.

Okay, here's what happened. I had my potentiometer turned down a little bit when I tested it for the 1/4 mile. I just kicked it up to full throttle, and ran downstairs (at work) to test it. It's pretty slick down there, so I couldn't get a straight 1/4 mile w/o spinning out. I had to do 12 feet which was about 1 second. I'm assuming the last half of my quarter would be less than that because my momentum is already going. I'm going to try to put another potentiometer on my steering so I can turn it down for dragracing to control it better.

With blue ZZ gears (power), I turned my potentiometer to the minimum and got 4 seconds in a 20 foot quarter. Potent. half way, I got 3.2 seconds. Pot. 3/4, I got 2.5 seconds. All the way, it was too slick, but I did the 12 foot in 1 second.

my friend wants to build a quarter mile strip out of hotwheels track. it will have optical sensors hooked up to a timer. it will time 1/16th mile and 1/4mile times.
