What to buy!?!??!?! Need a quick answer
Hey, I'm going out to RadioShack in a few hours. I have a black honda civic coupe, and 40 dollars to spend. What do I get? I definately want a 49mhz, so that leaves me with like 20 dollars left (forget tax). Should I get one FnF kit, or two of the speed booster kits? Gwaaaaaa
|
I would keep my 40 bucks, and spend it on a bit char-g, but only if I didn't have one already. I wouldn't personally buy 2 ZipZaps if I had no one to race with, they all seem like the same to me, just buy some bodies and the FandF kit. There just isn't enough diversity for me to buy more than one yet.

I vote for the f&f kit.

Well, if you want a NOS by the FnF kit. If you want two red turbos to upgrade both cars then go for the two speed upgrade packs. You get a nos and a turbo in the FnF kit, but then you got extra bodies lyin around and one of your cars is faster than the other. If you like that black Honda, you may not want to swap it out with a FnF body. Hard decisions I know. I wish RS would sell motors seperately. I would hate to have to buy two FnF kits to get two Nos motors and have duplicate bodies lyin around. Another way to do it would be to buy two 2.6 Microsizer motors. I hear they pop right in a Zip and are faster than the Nos (which is a 2.35 BTW). Your left over 20 bucks would handle any of these options, but you gotta go somewhere else for the Microsizer motors and can't one stop shop. But, isn't it great to have so many options when you only got 20 bucks left to spend?
Foofinator, I'm not sure what you mean when you say all Zips are the same. Other than frequency differences, I believe all of these micros are built on exactly the same chassis configuration, bits included. The only differences are in the body styles. Take the bodies off and all zips are the same. Take the bodies off bits, and they're all the same. Frequencies are different and bits have a booster set if you wanna pay the price, but I don't see your point. Sorry, maybe I missed something. |

Compare the zips to microsizers not bits. You can't even really do that fairly if you take into account that microsizers are bits. Give the zips some time.
|
True, the Zips just hit the market. The average American customer who doesn't know about imports would make the same claim about Microsizers. They're just duplicates. I guess all Mini Zs are duplicates too. Not sure why this means anything. If you like bits more, thats great. If the original poster likes Zips, that's great too. Opinions are wonderful, but not when they become a way of feeling superior. Not that you did that, but this kind of thing has a way of easily degrading into "my chevy is better than your POS ford. There's room for everybody's toys. I think we got off topic here. The guy just wanted to know what his best choices were when he went to Radio Shack.
|
hold up. I never said anything about Microsizers, I said I reccomend BITS, nothing to do with microsizers. Even if you say I wasn't trying to assert myself as superior with tiny RC cars, why even bring up that point? The fact that they are all duplicates DOES have relevence. All Mini-Z's are not the same, do they not have an offroad version of some sort? Anyway Mini-Z's are not the issue. The relevence of the duplicates comment is that in my opinion it makes the bits more interesting and less dull to have more variety, but again that's just my opinion as stated countless times. He asked what he could get a radio shack and I told him. In no way did I bash zipzaps. I feel you have me all wrong here, I just wanted to put my .02 cents in. I never said the zips wouldn't do well given time, I just said I preffered the variety offered by TOMY. YOU were the one that sounded offended at MY opinion. I was in no way trying to offend anyone, and the fanboyish attitude you made reference to in the ford vs. chevy comment did not come from my end of the argument I assure you.

Take a deep breath there skippy. Microsizers are bits with a name and freq change. The originator of this thread said he was heading to radioshack, last I knew Rs didn't sell bits, so your post was irrelevent.
|
I just realised how pointless this thread has become. I think a mod should close this before it catches fire.;)

Jeez, didn't mean to raise the temperature under your collar so much. Sorry if you took my comments in a negative light. They weren't meant that way. And I agree, as I stated earlier, we are way off topic. No insults meant, and none taken.
Now, back to the original topic. I thought about it some more, and if you (the original poster)don't have the upgrade kits for your cars, you might want to buy the two you suggested. This way you have two turbos and suspension upgrades for both cars. It would give you more options to fiddle with in both cars and make racing them more fun. And it would give you more of a feel for what the upgrades do for the cars. Later, you could get the FnF kit to play with a NOS and have more bodies to swap around. This is what I did, and it made playing with the cars more of an even progression for me. |

The original question was;
Should I get one FnF kit, or two of the speed booster kits? Your response was; I would keep my 40 bucks, and spend it on a bit char-g, but only if I didn't have one already. I wouldn't personally buy 2 ZipZaps if I had no one to race with, they all seem like the same to me, just buy some bodies and the FandF kit. There just isn't enough diversity for me to buy more than one yet. You just contradict yourself. Listen there was no offence meant by calling you skippy.I did read each and every post before I commented and I brought up the microsizers. You can go and pick up a zz at Rs or you can go to targets or a hobby shop and pick up a microsizer. I don't know of any place you can go and pick up a bit. This thread is pointless. Remember this is only My 2cents ;) |
How did I contradict myself, Here is the question:
"I'm going out to RadioShack in a few hours. I have a black honda civic coupe, and 40 dollars to spend. What do I get?" My answer is keep your money and buy a bit char-g. I don't understand?? What's so blasphemous about my answer? |
No, no, not offended in the least. I enjoy a good debate as much as the next guy. But, you just can't debate opinions. Shakey ground at best.

We got off track even more when we started discussing which of these different minis and micros where duplicates and that was my fault. I was trying to make a point by example and it kinda blurred the issue. We really should move on, but you deserve an oportunity to comment in turn. But, this kinda thing makes the moderaters very antsy. I bet the original poster is sitting there going, "Man, I just asked a simple question guys. :) |
