masking off for painting

hi,

i wanted to paint a stripe up the hood of my skyline so i masked one off ( using the stickers you use for addresses, enveloes ect) i then painted in between the stickers (obviously) with a paintbrush, i then peeled the stickers off and the paint had bled and it looked like a blob not a stripe!! why was this? is it because i peeled the tape of too soon, i dont know...........

you should have used masking tape or painters tape. a tape is meant for blocking off paint where it isnt supposed to go. I tried the same thing with regular Scotch tape and it came out horrible.

yeh i kno, but the stickers i use'd are alot more sticky than masking tape so i gathered they would work better ;)

Painter's tape will give you a better "seal" with the car. Thus making the strip much more cleaner.
