microsizer isn't working

i was playing with my ms today no problems, then i stopped to do something else, when i came back to try out the controls, the car wouldn't respond. I think the controller is fine though because the leds light up when i charge and press the buttons but the car never responds. The batteries for both car and controller are charged too. Anyone know how to solve my problem?

well i dont now what to say about that but the thing i would do is return it and get a new one

I've emailed customer support at Hobbico, they say they would send me a new chassis which was quite nice of them. But i'm still not sure if it's the root of the problem, i have a hunch that the controller is the problem.

i would check the blue wire that connects to the antena in your controler it might have came off

Sniper596 10-31-2002 04:46 PM

checked the blue wire and it had come off, i sodered it back on and tried it but the range is extremely horrible. Car needs to be like 5 cm away from the controller in order to work.

well at least now we now its the controler thats the problem. maybe you didnt solder it in the right place (just a sugestion)

Sniper596 10-31-2002 09:36 PM

i'm pretty sure i soldered the blue wire in the right place because right after i did that i was playing with it for the rest of the night and it had great range of 15 feet. The next morning i ran it for about 5 min, and like i said had to go do something (aka brush teeth :)) and when i came back it wouldn't budge. Perhaps i didn't solder properly, would you know of a site with colour schematics of a real board, cause qfms' black and white one is a little too hard for me too understand.

hmmmmm........this might not be it, but it can. Try looking at the motor position, somtimes it can back out of contact with the contact. cheack to see if the steering works when the car doesn't move. If that's the case push the motor more in so it touches the contact. That should be able to get it going again.

The motor is in the correct position and the car works perfectly, including steering, just it only works 5 cm away :( .

Ummm....you said the batteries in your car AND controller are both charged??!! Are you using rechargeables in your controller? That's a no-no. Put a fresh set of alkalines in the controller and see if that helps.

Sniper596 11-01-2002 06:49 PM

i'll see if i can find some alkalines, just kind of a pain in the ass because you have to buy them all the time, the nimh batteries i have were fine. I think i might have fried a resistor possibly when sodering the blue wire, it's possible right?
