Epoch Controller Replacement Advice Needed

I am brand new to this forum and pretty new to RC.

I got a great deal on an Epoch car, but I need a Controller (I figured out which charger to get).

I have read as much as I could in various forums and there is no consensus as to which controller is the best choice for Epoch.

I want to spend around $50 or less. I do not need anything top-of-the-line as I am just getting my feet wet in this hobby. I don't need to get too crazy too soon.

Can anyone recommend a controller for my Epoch? Or, if have you seen someone else with an Epoch, what (non-stock)controller were they using?

I appreciate any help any of you can give me. Thanks. Aaron

G'day Aaron.

I use the stock Losi Micro-T controller. Works really well for me. You should be able to pick up one cheap here on the forums or on ebay. 90% of 27Mhz AM controllers work well. Just make sure you get one that can change the polarity of the channels.

you might be able to pick up a stock kt-2 or kt-5 for a mini-z for free but if i recall correctly, there was a stuttering issue with use of a mini-z transmitter?

I found the stuttering with the Kyosho controller is only in the throttle and at less than 25% throttle. Its kind of like a really rough idle on a 427 with a racing cam. It smooths out once you get moving. The steering works fine.
