XMods Micro RC ("A ZipZaps Innovation")
Stopped by my local Radioshack today and found a little surprise!
RadioShack is releasing another line of the ZipZaps!...This time around they're being called "Xmods Micro RC". I think the store I went to mistakenly put 2 out on the floor. I wasn't able to pull up any details about them on the Net and when I went to another RadioShack, they'd never heard of them. ...In any case, I didn't chance it and picked up the 2 that were there! First the Stats: - The 2 I got are the '67 Camaro - Catalog# 60-0388 - It's a "regular" ZipZap (no propo) - Has dual-batteries in the car (2.4v @ 70mAH) - Motor is hardwired (but the engine is pretty fast as is, so not a total loss) - Has headlights - Price is $20 - Available in 27MHz and 49MHz And now the money shots: Logo and collector card: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3155/...8e880797_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3194/...aed24ea8_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3041/...184b3096_m.jpg Packaging http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3212/...802b80ed_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3149/...c3c9f3b4_m.jpg The Car http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3058/...c20555e4_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3067/...3015827d_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3222/...477b4113_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3001/...8fc44e74_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3288/...18482cea_m.jpg For the full rez pictures, check out my XMods MicroRC 1/64 Gallery |

Saw them too, was rather disappointed :(

Here's a link to the other model.. looks like they are going to carry two?
http://www.tinyrc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=75 I really like the detail in the body. Here's my question though.. why wouldn't they try to release these to allow 6 frequencies? Don't the XMODS sell in 6 or more frequencies? I'd like to ressurect my ZipZap SE project, I have a custom track and want to have 6 identical and stable racers ready. I have tons of SE equipment but it's tough to get the chassis to all run identically and stably. I missed my window of opportunity to buy 6 Aston Martin kits to get the latest platform and it appears I waited too long to buy on ebay in that quantity. |
Been a while for me. My last post was 5-29-2006! I saw these at RS yesterday and picked up one of each. They didn't have much available.
I actually like the SE's better. I like having friends over and race 6 at a time. They are not all proficient so I have a bunch of old "blue" 10k motors in them. Howver, I do make sure they are fairly well matched when I set up a friendly competition. I try to make the spread less than 0.5 seconds on my track. A good lap with a blue motor is ~15 seconds. For my road course having 2.4V is just too fast to control. I'd rather have a longer runtime, more frequencies, and a manageable speed for beginners. These new models just don't fit the bill. |
Got one of these (camaro) just two days ago.
Im english and brought a Bit Char G a few months ago, i loved it with its 3.0 motor but the cost of obtaining them was too high (im in the UK). I was on holiday in new york and picked one of the new ones up from RS for $13.99 (on sale). I wish these things were still really popular (i started using these early in '09), there is no longer any support on custom mods ETC. i suppose ill have to start the next 'craze' early. |
What is the run time on these little cars?

sounds good to me b16b16

hi i am jcarry i want to share some information with you
XMODS Evolution Transformers In June 2007, RadioShack released two XMODS Evolution models to coincide with the release of the film Transformers. Unlike other XMODS, which come in reusable plastic cases, these models came in standard boxes. Special body and light kits were available for these models. RadioShack stores were told not to sell them during a period in January due to a defect in the chassis. Under pressure, the chassis will crack and eventually break. |
