they have them at toys r us they are about the size of a zipzap and use a motor for turning instead of a magnet

If they have a motor for steering that will give them an advantage over the Bits and Zaps.

Analogue steering = Better control :)

Are they any good? Speed, price, what else can you tell us about it?

I have to say that I've never seen that one before... What's up with the motor for the steering???? Is it proportional steering?

I also noticed that the gears are on the opposite side of the chassis, or is your photo reversed?

Micro Blast Racers by MGA entertainment. The price is $12.99 it has a separate charger that uses 2 AAA batteries. Transmitter is a cool design with a flip down antenna it uses 2 AA batteries. The car has one 1/3 AAA 80 Mah Ni-cad, 6 diffrent cars 27 and 49 Mhz. I have not used one yet but they look cool

If those pics are yours I want closeups of the body from a few different angles! Please! :) The chassis too! :) I gotta find one of these.. I have a few ideas on how to easily turn the steering not only into motorized steering but make AWD too. :)

I ran into a clone tonight...was parusing the mall and nearly stepped on a vender's miniRC. Was curious to see who made it. Turns out its an import from Korea. Same size as The RadioShack version, but the the packaging was all in Korean. I asked the vender if there were any upgradable parts and ended up teaching HIM about the damn thing. LOL! The Vender was Russian with very poor English so he mostly just said, " Yea! Yea!", "It fast little car!". Nothing else was discovered about this clone, however.

• Clone description:
• Packaging - Light blue/ lime green gradiants with silver Kangi (lettering).
• The transmitter was the bottom of the packaging and the top was a clear, removable dome. (Like the Bit char-gies...but different!)

Does this ring a bell to anyone? If not, I'll head to the mall with my camera tomorrow...

I have a blue one called the Mach-9 27Mhz. The pics are from another forum. I dont have a camera. Its not the fastest of my micro cars but it is faster than a zipzap. My friend has the orange one pictured, He's had it for a few weeks which is where i learned about these.

When seeing these I ran out to my nearest TRU over lunch and picked one up. I figured it would be nice to have a zipzap clone (as they looked). I have had horrid results with steering and range. If I let the car go farther than just as my feet I lose control over the steering so that it turns very choppily in short increments. I definately would not suggest one of this as a first Micro. My zips out of the package were faster than this one as well so... not sure about the speed. The motor looks like you could clip it free and solder in a new one easily tho.

EXACTLY!!!! That's why I need to see better pics!! The rear windows are a bit off and the hatch isn't colored.. that's what's making me think it's not. But PLEASE, I NEED to see more!! :) Guess I gotta go to Toys-R-Us today.. :(

man that are so many clones i see a new one every week it seems like.... my family get these toy magazene and they have them.

Saw one also and had to get for that werd front end steering.

Supprising on vinyl how sharp it turns. The gearing up front is worth the 13 buck just to have that gear train. Wonder how it will hold up compared to the coil magnet system?

Wonder when this will have its own mag on the newsstand's? :rolleyes:

I just bought two of these at Target for $9.99 each! They come in 27mHz and 49mHz, so I bought one of each. Unfortunately, the 49mHz model didn't work out of the box, so I'll probably exchange it tomorrow. These cars are distrubuted in the U.S. by MGA Entertainment. This is my first Micro RC car, so I don't have a lot to compare it to. From what I've read here and at other sites dealing with micro RC cars, the MBRs have a few unique features.

1.) The fact that the steering is controlled by a motor is interesting, but it isn't proportional, so I'm not really sure it's any better than the magnet type. Perhaps the fact that it has a more gradual 'attack' makes the steering a little smoother.

2.) The controller is great. It has actual joystick-type levers to control forward/reverse and steering. It's almost like a slightly miniturized Playstation controller. Again, since I don't have experience with other micro RC's, I'm not sure how it compares. It definitely seems like it would be more ergonomic than, say, the Microsizer or Zip-Zaps controllers.

3.) The charger is separate from the controller. The disadvantage is that you need more batteries. The charger takes 2 AAAs, while the controller uses 2 AAs. On the other hand, I would assume that the batteries in the controller will last longer, since they won't be used to charge the car. At any rate, I picked up some NiMH rechargeables for both, so I'm not too worried about it. The car charges in about 50 seconds, which results in a 2 or 3 minute run. I've found that running the charge cycle multiple times greatly increases the car's run time.

The parts don't appear to be interchangeable without some fairly extensive work. It's certainly not engineered for easy customization like Microsizers. The performance seems pretty good, however, and I'm really having a blast driving this thing!

Anyway, I hope this information is useful. I've found next to nothing about these cars anywhere on the Internet, so I felt it was my duty to add my $.02!
