Finding unique bodies

Are there many other types of bodies that have been made that can fit (or fit with just a little help) onto a zip zap chassis? For example, how about the old slot car / aurora / TCR bodies, can any of these fit proportion-wise (lining up the wheel wells over the wheels WELL - pun intended.) then only having to find a custom way to get it mounted well on the chassis pegs? I like to collect ZIP ZAP bodies. I really would like to find osme old 50's cars especially the early 50's-vintage chevy pickups. I've only been able to find matchbox/hotwheels bodies of that type, and I suppose you could make a mold and pour resin.

Here's one I made. It was a slot car.

There are lots of bodys out there that will fit. If you make a vac former, you could make just about any body you wanted.

Great picture!
Can you elaborate on a vac former.. what is that?
So far I've seen more bodies that wouldn't fit than those that would. But I've only really looked at microsizers, bit char-g's, etc. If you raise the body to make a 4x4 type model (like you have pictured) I suppose you could probably use any body!

It's a box with holes drilled in the top and a vacuum hose hooked to one side. Plastic sheets are heated until they soften, are placed over a form in the center top of the box and the vacuum is turned on. This pulls the soft plastic down tight to the form. Type vacuum former into google and you'll find plans to build one.
As to bodies, I've found that Tyco 440 Magnum series slot car bodies fit pretty closely with modifications. Another outlet are those cheap playsets that come out at Xmas time in Walmart. They have lots of plastic bodies like vans, trucks, police cars and such. Some work and some are too small, but there are several in each package.
Other than that, you just have to keep your eyes open in toy depts for plastic bodies that look to be the right scale.
