Anyone killed Forward but not reverse?

I had my Firebird EVO out tonight. It's a 6 cell with stage 2 motor. I also run a pair of soft slicks stretched over hard slicks to increase the diameter to make it faster. I've been running this for about 2 weeks.

I took it out this time and while driving forward, it slowed down and stop, like the batteries died. I picked it up and smelled hot electronics so I shut it off. I hook it up now and everything works but going forward. Has anyone ever burned one of the channels in the fets and not the other, or do you think this is a different problem?

I don't know why it burned up, people run more than i do on stock electronics.

Deep-fried FET

I believe there is a separate FET for forward and reverse.
I've burnt out a Mini-Z's forward drive.
If you take the case off, you should be able to see a bubble/dicoloration on one of the large chips near the motor leads.

They are replacable with stock chips from (oddly enough) Radio Shack, and a little TLC from a point tipped iron.

I have heard that if you upgrade forward with a better FET, you'll also have to upgrade reverse. Something about off-resistance, but that might just have to do with FET stacking.

I checked the fets right away for signs of damage. I couldn't see any discoloration or anything at all. I replaced the board with a $10 store return my local RS had. I'm waiting on the fets because i'm probably going to make a large order :)
