all wheel drive= less speed..?????

OK I have a problem I just brought a g35 and the awd set up and I hooked up everything and I took it out to see how it drives and my nsx with rwd is faster and it isn't even the evolution series ... anyone know why my g35 is slow with the awd and if so how to fix it or should I just get the stage 3 engine and more batteries..... Thanks

anyone???

rob3662 01-21-2006 07:21 PM

the AWD creates more friction and slows the car down, probably all you can do is get a faster motor or more batteries.....or take the AWD off.

would this help at all?http://www.undergroundxmods.com/cata...c34224c2d8b637

rob3662 01-21-2006 11:42 PM

that will only make you car get up to speed faster, it won't increase the top speed

nsxyellow 01-22-2006 08:12 AM

that is what I want because it seems to be slow in the acceleration and top speed department... so this chip, a stage 3 or custom motor and extra batteries should do it?

rob3662 01-23-2006 08:58 PM

that should do it, i have no idea how that chip works, but the extra batteries and motor should do it by itself. and if i were you i would get some lithium ions, or li-poly batteries, makes a big difference.

AWD causes less runtime. So this means that you are probably experiencing full speed for about a quarter of your full runtime. What you can do: Get liths, rechargeables, or better batteries. (You can try ebay or www.jawdropracing.com)
So basically thats a summary of what everyone said.

rob3662 03-01-2006 09:14 AM

I'm hoping that you recharged your batteries before you used then again, cause if you go under 6 volts with you pack there is a good chance that you ruined your batteries, or caused a lot of damage to them. I would suggest getting a voltmeter and checking your batteries, then charging them and checking them again. I can't see any reason for it to be slow and have a short run time other then bad batteries. If there was binding your would hear it.

not to be a jerk or anything but after reading all that ^^^
i didnt see a real answer. sooo. . . .

im guessin, and this is just what I am assuming, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

AWD= pro -- Pro Traction con -- Par acceleration

RWD= pro -- Pro Acceleration
con -- Par Traction

AWD is good for Race tracks, where as RWD is for the drags

I bought a awd kit for my evo stang (wich has a flaw in a gear and the gears dont lock up so I have to take it back to rs to get replacement) but I might not install it because I want to go for more of a drag car, its just more my style.

rob3662 03-04-2006 10:20 AM

I was just trying to think of a reason for the short run time. But what you said is correct, awd gives more traction and a lower top speed, and rwd gives less traction and higher top speed. I personally don't find much of a difference in accerleration between the two.

Try upgrading to a 6 cell or li-poly if u want more acc. with 6 cells my evo spins out on take offs even with awd.

Thanks guys for the help now all I need is the money

bengali548 07-18-2006 12:41 PM

i dont know if my car is messed up or its the same problem youre having but when i installed my awd i forgot to charge my batts and so it went slow as hell but than i charged em and they still went slow as hell. i have a 6 cell setup stage 1 engine and thats it and some hard treads up front wit some soft on the top but it literally will not move when i put it on the ground unless i push it even when i pick it up the wheels bearly move unless i spin them. do you guys think somethings wrong with the board. oh just to let you know my throttle fet blew and i switched the wires so that when i go reverse on my controller my xmod goes forward

tommy 10-12-2006 06:49 AM

Hi, I'm not an expert but I think that the voltage in reverse is les than in forward so if you switch the them you will have less power in forward, but realy not sure of that just a tought.
