Project: Tri-Cell
1 Attachment(s)
After building a couple of decent crawlers I decided to go the other direction: Speed.
As mods go, this isn't new, but I hadn't tried it before, and wanted to see how performance would be. |

Ridiculously fast is how I would term it!
I'm doing the classic trick of hard-wiring the charging base to the batteries inside my controller to charge it. (manually timed) I think this is the permanent home of that green Mustang body too. Specs follow: Tri-Cell -------- 27Hmz Green Cat5 Antenna Orange Motor and Gearset Additional Series-Wired Battery Silver Wheels and Tires from Upgrade Kit Suspension Drillouts Athearn Springs Upgraded Red ZZ Steering Motor |
can u send me the directions on how you did the tri-cell because my truck batt. dosent last long at all.
and will u need a different charger to charge your tri-cell?? thanks |
Yea. If you want that 3rd cell to give you extra power then you need a different charger.
|
could you post a picture of the charger and can you just make one out of a zz controller

And also, you may want to add an extra cell to the controller to charge the battery to full capacity a little faster but you will need to manually time the charge. Im not sure how long to charge the MT with 3 cells(with 4 or 5 cell in ZZMT chargebase). |
thanks for the tips i really appreciate it. i just got a zzmt and did the gearing mod i like the results but my battery life is just too short, it only lasts like 30sec and then it cant move. would u prefre the tri cell or the quad cell???
|
High speed or low speed gearing mod?
And did you do any other modifications to your ZZMT? |
low speed mod thats the only one for now
|
Did you use new AAA batteries for the controller for your first charge on the MT?
It seems you have a bad batteries in your ZZMT |
yea but could you e-mail me the instructions on how you made that charger because i am new to this zzmts and how do you have to charge it manually
|
Far be it from me to keep a post on track but...

Count to 30 or 40 and you're good. No need spot-on accuracy. |
thanks for the info... would u prefer quad cell or a tri cell and how long would u charge the quad cell.....?
|
I have 2 quad cells right now. The thing is wheelie crazy if you don't weight the front down. Both my of my quad cells have higher tooth pinion gears on the orange motor to gear it faster. This helps with the wheelies. They are also prone to role every time you try to turn at higher speeds. I tri-celled my younger brothers, and with orange gears, it's a lot more manageable. It all depends on what you're going for.
