EVO parts on Gen. 1 cars?

I know that the new Evo xmods are pretty much all new...but the "kid" at radio shack assured me that all the new parts will work on the old xmods. Now, I really want an awd kit for my gen. 1 mustang, and I obviously can't find an old awd kit in stores any more...so, i guess my question is, would the Evo awd kit work on my mustang?

For that matter...aside from the motors (addressed in a previous post), will any of the Evo parts work on gen. 1 cars?

I doubt the awd kit for the cars is any different than the 4wd kit for the trucks, so if they are the same, then no they won't work. I guess the springs would work with older cars, but other than that I can't see much else working. Radio Shack (or whoever makes them) totally redesigned just about everything on the chassis. In fact the motors will only work if you are willing to pay 20 bucks or more for a pinion puller and are willing to buy a pinion and bevel gear online.

wheels are interchangeable ;)

You can fit gen 1 bodies on the EVOs with an included adapter, but not vice versa. Also, the wheels on the EVO require spacers to be added on the rear wheels.

Horshu, it can be done vice versa. Just put the old black rear clip on the new body, and the new front clip on the onld chassis.

Ahh, that's very cool. That gives me some more flexibility; I'm having to redesign my case inserts and get a whole new batch of parts, but am hoping to share as many of the parts as possible since I've got so much time and money in gen 1 (thankfully, it *does* wind up paying off in performance). Right now, I can share batteries with some custom-designed battery packs, the remote (which is good because I've got over a month of work in customizing *that*), wheels (got too many of those and they take up too much case space to buy a new assortment of wheels), and now the bodies. I can't even share motors because my wire harnesses are measured and routed to fit a very specific path along the interior. I think that with roughly 40% of case space shared, I'm in OK shape.
