Modding controller antenna
 

I just replaced the controller antenna with a much longer one and i get a hell of alot more range, but after i get so far back it will sputter like crazy, has anyone else had this problem? the antenna is clearly inserted properly and is making enough contact with the metal piece in the controller. anyone have any ideas to help this a bit?

When it sputters (signal loss), it means that you have gone past the maximum range for control. Just don't go past the distance that you can control the zip properly.

I'm going to try and put a 6 ft antenna on mine to see how much range improvement it will give over a 3 ft antenna.

i saw on a nother site this guys trying to find a nine foot he said if you do the math you need a nine foot one god golly miss molly thats a little to much its a toy that only 2in long

You guys can do the antenna mod on the cars - I just wanted to do the controller.

It's not that I'm going to control the car 100 ft away. I've never really gone past 20 feet.

I actually get more than 50ft indoors and meant 20 feet is the maximum that I actually use it in due to the track layout.

That is with a 3ft antenna on both 27 and 49.

Maybe that is true that it may lose signal strength but it's always best to test it.

true, the controller cant power all of my 3 ft antenna, and what I just do is keep it closed (still about an inch longer than the stock ZZ antenna) and I get about 10-15+ feet more than I did with the stock antenna, if i extend it I can get even more distance out of it. always best to see what the limits are :D
