AWD Front drive shafts
OK. I know people have these. I've seen the gifs. I've been all over the net looking, and can't find em. Am I not looking in the right places?
|
There's some kind of either manufacturing or other problem holding them up. They were supposed to be out in late May, but every time I ask a vendor, it's 2-3 more weeks
|
Thx. I also heard that GPM is only selling them in bulk, and that Freak Accident had some.
I can understand how they keep pushing it back. Those peices CAN'T be easy to pass any kind of QA testing, because of their size. |
Yeah, and I think CJ's Hobbies were showing their price at $3.50, which is kind of low, given their complexity. They have to withstand some definite force...since I put tight turns onto my GPM body (50% heavier than stock), I've been snapping the plastic ones with a vengeance. I'm wondering if GPM is having issues fabricated them or if even the aluminums have problems with the stress.
|
Well, I just asked Dinball about them *again*, and it's still a mysterious delay. GPM should have already shipped them, but once again, I can't find anyone who has them.
If anyone else might have specific information as to when they are coming out or why they are being delayed, please let me know. I'm getting rather frustrated trying to hunt these things down UPDATE: Read this on CJ's site -> "As for the New GPM parts I am still waiting for their Quality department to release the parts" |
I kinda find it hard to beleive that nobody at GPM visits the XMOD/Mini-z sites OR is an enthusiest him/herself. I also find it weird that nodody at GPM does searches for these kind of threads.
|
I suspect they do. I've noticed a couple of their parts have changed in response to general logistical problems (axle holders, front suspension arms). What I suspect is going on is that they are finding that the parts are breaking or binding in testing, and they are having problems finding a design that works. The collar on them looks like it could cause binding, but it's just a theory. If they do read any of the major forums, I wish they'd have a rep who interacts with the members.
|
I suspect the same problem w/ the testing. I heard that Freak Accident had some on his car. Maybe we could pull him into this, and make more sense out of it. Or atleast have some inside info on the quality of the prototype. And I solidily agree about more contact from GPM. They're bound to know that people have questions & input.

Them's the ones! I saw you had them yesterday (not in silver, though :( ). Glad to see that GPM finally got their problems building the thing taken care of, apparently (I broke another plastic one 2 days ago)

I have 1 more gold set for $12 shipped. Contact me if you're interested...gotkix@hotmail.com
|
One set is a pair right?
If so, I'm interested. =D |
One set is a pair, but I got the set. CJ has an order on the way, though. They mesh extremely well with my bearings, giving smooth as silk wheel play.
|
i bought some and theyre very nice. everything is a tight exact fit. just need to be patient when installing it. took me an hour or so, to work out the problems. i needed alot of force to put the pin in.

You mean to put the wheel shaft into the front cup joint? If so, the easiest way to do it is to secure the gearbox to the deck plate/diff/cup joints, and scre the assembly to the chassis. Then remove the shocks so that the front arms can fully flex, put each knuckle/wheel shaft onto the tie rod, then into the cup joint, then into the chassis slots. (I've been tearing mine down a lot and ended up writing down a full set of instructions on it, and this one works the best for me)
