The RS track has a specially coated surface on one side that offers superior traction. The rails on the RS track keeps your car on the track and are soft enough to absorb impacts without damaging your car. It's a hobby quality track that is well worth the money.

ok first its not a speial coating they just sanded it down so it has grooves that keep it from sliding. as for the special bumpers its not like you cant use that foam pipe wrap on some pvc pipeing.

So you raced on a rcp track already? I made a foam track and used it before I bought an rcp-track. There is no comparison. I am not busting on people that decide to make a foam track but I am pointing out the huge difference in quality between the two.

Is anyone using these mats for their track yet? It would be great to hear a report of how it is working out and maybe see a picture or two. I am considering ordering these and using some blucore foam as the railings. I can hotwire cut the blucore foam in any shape I want, and with a pattern can make exact railing pieces to pin to the mat. I think I can sand my own mat for the savings too. I appreciate this thread and any help you guys can give that have "been there and done that". Thanks.

Yeah, I have a small track.

Its really good..I raced an radioshack track at the grand prix, and it was just the same deal.

Each 2x2 square comes with little "rails" on the edges, so I just used those for gaurd rails.

It looks pretty cool, ill try to get some pictures soon.

Steve,
Great! Thanks for the reply. I have some mats that will arrive tomorrow that we are going to try out. I heard that these should be sanded to give them a little bit a texture. I'd love to see some pics of yours. I am taking a group of teenagers to camp next week, so will not be able to work on our track until we get back.
