Max voltage for PCB??
 

Anyone here tried running li-po's? As in series? That'd be a nominal 7.4 volts. Will it burn some stuff up? I'm new to the little guys so I need some info on how to make these guys much, MUCH faster. If anyone here is reading this and knows the answer for SE's that'd be great too! Thanks.

Well, I dont' think anyone knows...is there a voltage regulator on these guys? I'm going to order a set of kokam's tonight and run them in series..if I burn it up...well, that's only 20 bucks and I have an extra shell :) I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm not completely sure, but I have read that feeding your pcb with more than 5 volts could have undesirable effects. Some components on the pcb may not be rated for such voltage and if this is the case, 7.4 volts is not "nominal". It might turn your ZZ into a cool looking paper weight.

Also, if these rc's had regulators, then why use so much voltage anyway?

I am not sure if they have a regulator. I was asking. If they do, then you are right...why do it? I'll just have to wait and see.

The Kokams will be in before the end of the week. I'll post my results..and possibly the insurance claims after I accidentally burn my house down trying to fit this much voltage on this small a car :)

I don't know what the max is but I've bench tested mine on 5 1/3AAA 150mah, so thats ~6 volts. Three cells work pretty good (pulls standing wheelies, flips over on 5) and will charge on the controller. 4+ cells won't charge. 5 might be too heavy for good wheelies
