Newbie Question concerning the differentials?
 

I see that on a few of your cars you have what appears to me the AWD kit on the front and rear like in this pic below.My question is why?Is the white differential inferior to the red for some reason?Ive read every sigle thing just about on this site concerning x mods and ive not seen it discussed.

In the AWD kit, you get two new differentials. The front one, which is already in the new front bulkhead you get, is a normal gear diff just like the stock rear diff. The rear one, however, is a limited slip ball differential. It's up to you, but IMO, the ball diff greatly increases the handling characteristics of the vehicle.

The red differential makes it alot easier to launch really well and to drift, basically, it allows better traction, because it does not stop the motion of one wheel when you barely touch it like on the white one. if you twouch the wheel, when you have the red one installed, you will feel the car pull hard and still go, the wheel will not stop unless you use very excessive force.

While what Murc and the master have said are true, you can alter the stock white diff to behave just like the AWD red one. One way is to pack it with AWD grease, or chapstick or play-dough. Ball diffs will go out over time, especially when if you are gonna run crazy power and motor such as anything with the lithium io / poly combo. I run a white diff in my AWD with the yellow arms. Matches the yellow skyline body. :)

Or u can take apart the white differential and put clay inside the little gears and jam them causing the same effect as the red differential.:D :D :D :D :D

Will This do what I think it will?
 

If I where to take my stage 2 white 8 tooth gears (more torque) and pull them off and install them onto my stage 2 blue motor (highest power)? Would that take some power from the blue motor but at the same time give a harder torque/launch? Giving the car the most power I can and at the same time pulling some torque out of it as well so it's not slow off the line. Although I don’t think it would get the most torque you can get from a stage 2, I still think it would get a good mix of torque and horse power. Any thought, suggestions or advise? Thanks.

Ya if you have a stock car then ya go with the red ball diff, BUT if u have like Li-ions or better then a stage 2 motor then you want to stay with the stock gear diff... Only becasue the red ball diff with go out and eventuly wont work at all...
